Reflections

This was definitely a worthwhile endeavor. I learned a lot and had fun while learning!

Gaming

Gamings is fun. With two young kids I have been exposed to a lot of online games for kids. There is definitely different levels of quality and I also check out the game site before letting my kids proceed.

Google Earth

I have been using Google Earth for over a year. I live in a wooded area and it is fun to see how my property sits in relation to other places where I live.

Avatars

I think my kids will have fun with this.

on line applications

Wow! I had no idea that there was so many different application available on line. It has been a few years since I have check into this. It would be interesting to know how many people are using this stuff. This could change everything...

Search Engines

I was familiar with some of the search engines but I ended up trying them all. The results definitely varied. Mamma seemed very useful.

pod casts

Pod casts are great. Recently I got a cable that I can plug into the console of my car so that I can listen to stuff on my mp3 player. This is a great way to enjoy podcasts that I otherwise wouldn't have time to listen to.

Creating Images

This is fun and very easy. Great for kids...

Overdrive

I really needed to learn about downloading audio books and music. This was a very useful exercise. Instead of always referring overdrive questions to our IT person, I now can be somewhat of a help. I also plan to start downloading books and music at home.

Delicious

I will definitely be tagging with delicious. I do a lot of research on the internet for my storytimes and right now I have this huge list in "favorites" that is just a jumble and is getting to be more trouble than it is worth. With delicious I will be able to sort things by storytime theme and make my life a whole lot easier!

wikis

Wikis are a great way to share information quickly and easily. Of course, one has to be careful about how much faith to put in the accuracy of the info. Last year, I taught a project in my son's class about how to judge research that is garnered from the internet. We went to many different sites including wikipedia. It was a real eye opener for the kids to see how different sites could provide different "facts" for the subjects that we were researching.

I think wikis can be useful in the library if you are looking for opinions on books for recommendations to patrons.

YouTube

I watch youtube all the time with my kids. It seems like you can find a video about just about anything. I think it is useful in the library because sometimes you can start a reference search about a popular culture question just be going to youtube. I also watch tv shows on-line. It's a great way to get caught while waiting for kids during sports or piano practice.

MySpace

I tried MySpace and it was very easy to upload my picture and look around.

This is very useful. It's definitely a quick way to keep up on subjects of interest.

IM

The IM stuff was just fine. I've used on-line help before so it was pretty famliar. I also set up a Meebo account but I need to explore this a bit more...
